In the world of professional dog care, it’s not every day that you find out your friendly neighbourhood dog walker is a superhero in disguise. This is the extraordinary tale of Henry Cavill, the Man of Steel himself, who before donning the iconic cape, was a humble dog walker in the heart of West Hollywood, California.

Back in 2005, a charming restaurant host named Henry was making a name for himself in the local community. His striking good looks and British charm were hard to ignore, and he quickly became a favourite amongst the regulars. Among these was a rescued malamute named Buddy and his owner, who were regular passersby of the neighbourhood tapas restaurant where Henry worked.

Buddy, a large, wolf-like dog that often intimidated people, was instantly drawn to Henry. His owner, equally charmed by the handsome host, affectionately dubbed him “Hot Henry”. He was, without a doubt, the most attractive person they’d ever encountered in real life, and possibly the kindest too. His charming British accent was just the cherry on top.

In a city like Los Angeles, especially in West Hollywood, it’s not uncommon to meet aspiring actors. So, when Henry mentioned his acting career, it didn’t raise any eyebrows. However, when he politely declined an offer to help him find an agent, stating he was in good hands with CAA (Creative Artist Agency), it sparked curiosity. Who was this guy, really?

The bond between Henry and Buddy was something special. It was heartwarming to see how kind Henry was with Buddy. When Henry offered to walk Buddy, his owner finally agreed, insisting on paying him. After all, he was a struggling actor, right? Little did they know, their humble dog walker was on the brink of stardom.

When Henry suddenly disappeared, leaving a voicemail explaining he had been overseas auditioning for Bond, the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place. This wasn’t just any actor. This was Henry Cavill, who after narrowly missing out on the role of Bond, landed a leading role on the Showtime series “The Tudors”.

Fast forward to a press event for the fantasy drama “Immortals”, in which Cavill starred. Despite his darker hair, increased muscle mass, and evident exhaustion, he immediately recognized his old friends, asking about Buddy. Even as a movie star, he was still the same humble and thoughtful Henry.

Henry Cavill’s journey from dog walker to Superman is a testament to his character. He remains the sweet, kindhearted, ridiculously handsome guy who showed genuine compassion towards a dog and his owner. He has always been super, and now the world gets to see it.

This story serves as a reminder to all professional dog carers in the UK that the work you do is valued and appreciated, even by the likes of Superman. It’s a testament to the bonds that can be formed between humans and dogs, and the unexpected places these relationships can lead us.
